Baodafor New Materials Technology recently fully implemented 5S management standards at its Xiamen production base. After several months of systematic implementation, both the workshop environment and operational processes have achieved significant improvements, gaining widespread recognition from front-line workers and management.
5S management consists of five core components: Sort (Seiri), Set in Order (Seiton), Shine (Seiso), Standardize (Seiketsu), and Sustain (Shitsuke). During the initial rollout, the company organized production management personnel to participate in specialized training, deeply understanding the core essence and implementation pathways of 5S. Based on this, the production workshop conducted systematic inspections against standards, systematically reviewing and standardizing material stacking, tooling equipment, and workbench areas.
At the workshop site, after sorting and organizing, raw materials and finished products are clearly zoned with distinct markings; passages are properly marked with no clutter blocking; tooling equipment is positioned by number with clear procedures for use and return. Front-line operators reported that "now we don't have to dig around to find things anymore, and efficiency has noticeably improved."
According to production supervisors, 5S management has not only improved the on-site environment but also enhanced employees' problem awareness and improvement initiative. The workshop organizes weekly self-inspections and evaluations, identifying gaps against standards, and has formed a closed-loop management mechanism of "identifying problems—analyzing causes—formulating measures—tracking verification." Next, the workshop plans to combine 5S management with lean production to continuously explore efficiency improvement opportunities.
Baodafor stated that the improvement in on-site management is the foundational guarantee for product quality and delivery capability. The company will continue to promote 5S management as a regular operation and gradually extend coverage to warehousing, offices, and other areas.
