Hainan Province has officially launched a new round of single-use plastic bans, expanding restrictions to cover dining, food delivery, and fresh produce delivery sectors across the entire province. This marks a significant step forward in the province's ecological civilization construction.

Since 2020, Hainan has been gradually advancing its plastic restriction initiatives. The new policy expands on the original framework by prohibiting single-use plastic utensils, plastic bags, and plastic cushioning packaging, while establishing clear requirements that alternatives must meet biodegradability standards.

Industry analysts note that the upgraded ban will directly drive market demand growth for bio-based degradable packaging materials in the South China region. Polylactic acid (PLA), a leading biodegradable plastic, is gaining traction as a key alternative to conventional plastics due to its excellent environmental performance and comparable physical properties.

As an important supplier in the food packaging industry, Baodafor closely monitors market policy changes and actively develops bio-based degradable packaging products. The company has launched eco-friendly series including biodegradable cling wrap and PLA ziplock bags, meeting the sustainable packaging needs of restaurant businesses and food processing plants.

Experts point out that the widespread adoption of biodegradable packaging materials requires coordinated collaboration across the industry chain, from raw material supply and manufacturing to end-use applications. Hainan's plastic ban is expected to serve as a demonstration model, encouraging more regions to accelerate implementation of environmental policies.
